What is Bright Ideas TBI Camp?

In early 2016, AHIF noticed a trend where the clients it served seemed to show a stagnation, and sometimes even a regression, in a period of 2-3 years post-injury.  AHIF also noticed a similar trend, only sooner, in clients who were under-insured or uninsured.

AHIF studied this trend and developed two primary theories for why this was occurring.  The first involved an emotional reaction by the survivor as the long-term reality of their injury truly starts to sink in.  The second involved a complacency and exhaustion on the part of the caregiver.

As a result, AHIF reached out to Samford University, and later other universities across the state, to introduce its Bright Ideas TBI Camp program, which utilizes inter-disciplinary teams of students to assess client and caregiver needs, test interventions, and provide an "at home" action plan to be implemented and follow for months following the camp.
