Caregiver ProgramsCaregiver Information Programs
AHIF is excited to once again have Occupational Therapy students from UAB leading a summer series called Throwback Tuesday. Each Tuesday, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., the students and AHIF staff will lead sessions drawing on some of your favorite t.v. shows from the good old days, to share information and strategies for navigating today's world of serving as a caregiver to a TBI survivor.
If you would like to receive weekly invitations to these sessions, please e-mail us at caregiver@ahif.org. |

Caregiver Support Groups
AHIF recognizes the importance of providing an opportunity for caregivers of traumatic brain injury survivors to interact with one another. Research shows the tremendous impact such peer interaction can have, and how it can help caregivers feel justified in emotions they struggle with, gain insight into strategies for caring for their loved one, and more than anything just help them not feel alone.
AHIF also recognizes that support groups need to remain small, to encourage sharing from all participants and also to ensure that trust can be built within the group. AHIF will utilize "Breakout Rooms" through Zoom to divide caregivers into groups of 3-4 to ensure that all have an opportunity to share and discuss, and not get lost in a large group of participants. For more information, or to be matched into a group, please e-mail us at caregiver@ahif.org. |
Our Sweet Caregivers SeriesIn Spring 2022, UAB's Occupational Therapy students conducted a 10-week series on important topics for caregivers, using a different type of candy as the theme for each week's session. Recordings of these sessions are available here, and on our YouTube Channel.
