Advocacy

Many people find that services for people with brain injury and funding for those services is inadequate.  People with brain injury do not receive nearly the same
services and resources as people
with other disabilities.  In short, people with brain injury are being left behind, kept from returning to work, school and home.
That is where you come in.  We need your voice to be heard, whether it is through your own personal story about brain injury, through your experience in helping people with brain injury, or passion to make a difference.  Join our community of advocates today by:

Volunteering - Are you looking for a way to get involved with AHIF? We have meaningful (volunteer) opportunities with flexible scheduling throughout the state. By contributing your time, knowledge, skills and leadership you will infuse our organization with passion and energy to help improve the quality of life for survivors of traumatic brain injury and for their families. Click here to complete a Volunteer Application online.

Advocating - By signing up for our Action E-List, you will be notified when important legislative decisions are being made so that you can contact your legislator and express your support for helping survivors of traumatic brain injury. You can sign up for our Action E-List by clicking here.

Communicating - More than 10,000 Alabamians sustain a traumatic brain injury each year.  Despite this startling statistic, many are still unaware of brain injury causes, symptoms, prevention and the services provided by AHIF.  AHIF staff will come and present this information to your civic, community, religious or professional group for free.  Please call 205.823.3818 or e-mail to AHIF1@bellsouth.net to schedule a presentation.

Connecting - None of the services provided by AHIF would be possible without the generous support of individuals, corporations, organizations and foundations across our state.  If you know someone who has a special passion for survivors of brain injury, please call the AHIF office at 205.823.3818 or e-mail us at AHIF1@bellsouth.net and share their names.
