Okay...so I hope it isn't total blasphemy to alter a quote from "The Godfather." I decided to make it an true international weekend of brain freezes after my ChocoTaco yesterday, so I took on Luigi's Real Italian Ice today. Let me just say that I am not of Italian descent, but if I was, I think I might be offended by this product. Luigi? Really? This shows the same imagination and creativity that the Japanese designers at Nintendo showed in naming their famous characters Mario and Luigi. The coloring...using the colors of the Italian Flag like some cheap hole in the wall pizza joint. And, of course, throwing in the word "real" to somehow differentiate their Italian ice from all those lousy imposters! Funny thing is...I have actually been to Italy, and not once do I remember seeing a store, shop, or even a street vendor selling this authentic "real" Italian ice. Maybe I was just in the wrong parts of Italy! It was rock solid when I pulled it out of the freezer, so I had to let it sit for a little while, and in the end it just tasted like a sherbet, and not one of the better ones! But, since it was frozen solid, it was definitely cold, and although I would have probably preferred a cannoli, Luigi did manage to toss a brain freeze turtle shell my way!
