Their answer would determine their future...not just for the rest of the year, but for the rest of their life. As we quickly approach the beginning of another college football season, it just confirms how important such a question is, and how truly unprepared any new student is to answer that question!
In some ways, I find the choice of orange, cherry or grape to carry the same passion. As a cost efficient option option for providing kids frozen treats, these pops are often offered at church camps, summer camps, field trips, etc. And the passion with which kids have their favorite is fascinating. When they answer "orange" or "grape" or "cherry," it is almost as if they say so in utter disbelief that you could not already know their choice because it is far and away the best and only choice. Sometimes, with older kids, you can almost hear the silent word "idiot" uttered after they answer, a condescending tone for your stupidity of not knowing how they would choose ahead of time.
For me, I decided to not rock the boat and upset the Fates over this choice, and just chose all three! The result...a not so pleasant mixture of flavor, accompanied by the only choice no one wants...a brain freeze!
